 Craft Project Directions: To create this happy Leprechaun hand puppet, you will need some green and orange cloth, a small potato, some orange crepe paper, colored construction paper, glue, markers, thread and a needle, and a knife to cut the potato. To begin, wash and dry the potato, this will be the head of your leprechaun puppet. Core out a small hole from the base of the potato. This hole is for your pointer finger which will be your puppet's neck. Next take your markers, glue and crepe paper and create a leprechaun face and an orange beard. If you want to add a leprechaun hat on your puppet, take a small dixie cup, flip it upside down, add a green paper brim, and decorate. Then add the hat to the top of the potato. Your hand will become the cloth puppet's body. Next take a piece of cloth large enough to cover your hand and fold it over so that it is double. Using the template provided, cut out a puppet body and then sew the edges of it together. Next cut out a leprachaun vest from a green piece of cloth and drape it over the puppet body. Add buttons and shamrocks to it with felt or paper if you like. Now your puppet is ready to go! Place your hand inside the puppet body- your pointer finger is the neck, your thumb is one arm and your middle finger is the other.
