 Craft Project Directions: To make this craft project you will need a large box, green colored cellophane, scissors, green and yellow construction paper, foil, tape, glue, a piece of string, and markers or crayons. To begin take your box and cut out two window squares in the front and a small flap to open inward for a door. Cover the windows with piece of green cellophane and tape so the leprechaun will be able to peer inside of the cottage but not be able to open the windows. Next take your green construction paper and roll it into long paper tubes, tape them together, and stack them on top of the other on top of the box to form a triangular roof on top of your box. Now glue paper gold and foil coins and treasure inside the box so they are visible through the windows. Next decorate your box cottage so it would appeal to a leprechaun- add jewels, gold highlighting, rainbows, shamrock patterns, etc. Now the final piece add a taut piece of string across the bottom of the door and secure it in place with tape. This will allow the door to only be opened inward but not be opened outward- so once inside the door to the cottage the leprechaun will be trapped inside. With any luck, a leprechaun will see the cottage, peer through the windows to see the gold inside, push his way into the cottage through the front door to get the gold, and then be trapped inside.
