Beautiful easy-to-make holiday candles!
Craft Project Directions: Make eight beautiful and bright cellophane candles, one for each day of Hanukkah,
to hang in a window and let the light shine through. To make these candles you will need
black paper construction, colored cellophane or colorful tissue paper, and tape. Crayons and waxed
paper are optional.
First take the black construction paper and cut it into 4 rectangles. Next cut a candle shape and
a candle flame shape out of two of the rectangles. Leave a space between the candle shape and the
flame shape so they are two separate pieces. Next select a color of cellophane or tissue paper
and cut a shape slightly larger than the candle shape and do the same for the flame shape. Now
tape the colored cellophane or tissue paper on the piece of black construction paper
with the shapes cut out so it covers the cutout shapes. Now glue or tape the solid black rectangle
onto the back of the colored flame and candle you created to give your creation a finished look.
Place or hang somewhere special.
You could also create the flames for your candles using wax paper and crayon gratings. Cut a small
square piece of waxed paper, add or grate crayon scrapings to the top of it and place another waxed paper
square on top of the crayon gratings. Cover it with newspaper and iron it lightly to melt the crayon.
Let the waxed paper cool and then cut out a piece slightly larger than the flame shape you cut from the
black construction paper. Tape it onto the black paper so that it covers the cutout and finish the craft
the same way as above.
