Pequot



The Pequot -'Destroyers'- lived in areas of Connecticut in bark-covered longhouses. They were hunters, traders and farmers. They grew corn, tobacco, beans, and squash. In 1637 many of the Pequots were massacred by the Mohegan, the Narragansett, and English settlers over land. The Pequot were known as the Fox People.
