Rosa Parks was a brave and courageous African American woman and civil rights activist. It was her refusal to give up her seat on a bus to a white man on December 1, 1955 which triggered the Montgomery Bus Boycott and launched Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the forefront of the civil rights movement. She was born on February 4, 1913 and passed away on October 24, 2005.
